Pete Bowell

SENIOR ASSOCIATE PASTOR

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
“I’m hungry right now, so what came to mind is orange, because I like Dreamsicle bars.”

What did you want to be when you grew up?
“Two things came to mind: I didn’t like school, so one thing I dreamed about was being in an 18-wheeler because they had sleep cabs and the area for a TV so I could rest, and I could travel the country. The other one is a sports broadcaster. I did color commentary at the University of Maryland for the baseball team. I love sports and I thought it would be fun to be a sports broadcaster.”

What job would you be terrible at?
“I would be terrible as an admin assistant.”

What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?
“I like to talk to people on the phone voice to voice, not texting.”

What’s something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
“Travel outside of the country for perspective.”

What’s something you’ve had to un-learn?
“Something I’ve had to unlearn is knowing everybody’s story that I meet, because I’m not in control, God is.”

What weird food combination do you enjoy?
“They don’t make it anymore, but I would say flutternutter, the peanut butter with marshmallow.”

Favorite childhood toy?
“I don’t remember having a favorite childhood toy, however, I loved taking every blanket in the house and making forts in the living room.”

Beach or mountains?
“Open water, which means beach. There is nothing like the sound of waves to remind you that God was in control way before you entered this earth, and will be in control way after you leave this earth.”

What would you sing at karaoke night?
“REO Speedwagon, ‘Roll with the Changes’”
