Barry Schmitt
I am a follower of Jesus Christ and have been married to Debbie for 36 years, having 3 adult children- Alexandra, 31, who is married to Ben Norwood, residing in Nashville, TN, Jonathan, 28, living in Atlanta, GA, and Christopher, 24. Alexandra and Ben have one child, Charlotte, who is 18 months old. I enjoy spending time with my family, my granddaughter, golfing, the mountains of North Carolina where we are building a second home and playing video games with my youngest. I grew up in Upstate New York, went to college in the Boston area where I met Debbie and lived in North Carolina for ten years before my job brought us to Richmond in 1998.
I and my wife Debbie have been members of HOPE since the spring of 2021.
I am a Senior Financial Advisor at CAPTRUST and work with many higher education and for-profit clients across the US in helping them in offering a competitive retirement plan to help their employees achieve a meaningful and sustainable retirement.
My hope is that I can make a positive impact in the HOPE community and anywhere God calls me to serve to share what God has done and continues to do in my life. Joshua 24:15 “… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
